   This Common Loon Father shows off his fine plumage as he shakes water from his wings to prevent them from getting water-logged.  Their main diet consists of minnows and leeches, so they must spend many hours diving for their meals. 

  Common Loons have such an incredibly unique appearance with their black and white checkered backs, maroon eyes, flat shaped heads and characteristic white necklace around the throat. In finely detailed brush strokes, I capture these unique characteristics in my own realistic painting style.
